1 Big Database is a joint project between Bristol City Council, South Gloucestershire Council, Bath and North East Somerset Council, Connexions West of England, CIS West and The Care Forum.

Focus New Media have been working with the 1 Big Database group since 2004, and it has now become a leading online resource for children, their parents and carers throughout the West of England.

currently 1 Big Database features over two thousand organisations, all searchable through a number of web based 'front ends'. Users can find records of interest based on keyword, location, organisation type and the services offered, and results are presented in a clean, easy to read format. Records are also made available as part of a directory for an additional method of navigation.
service providers wishing to be included on 1 Big Database can register online through the main web site, with all new requests submitted for moderation by administration staff prior to approval.
organisations already listed on the database can login using their dedicated access details and edit their own record, ensuring data is kept up to date and the value of the database remains. An automated request timetable is implemented to request that updates are made on a regular basis.
In 2006, 1 Big Database was cited as an example of excellence by the Department for Children, Schools and Families.
