Content Management Systems
Updating your web site should be a key part of any marketing strategy - it encourages return visits from both human visitors and search engine indexes. Essentially there are two choices - pay an agency each time you want to edit text or images, or make the changes yourself instantly and cost effectively with an integrated content management system....
Sustrans, the UK's leading sustainable transport charity, are using Carbon to manage the content for their
Connect2 Project web site. Through Carbon, administration staff are also able to update the events diary and
news section - all from one easy to use interface.

Web site updating with Carbon....
And that's where Carbon comes in. Carbon is a web based content management system
that allows users to login, work on their web pages, preview the new version, and publish the changes to the
'live' web site. Carbon is designed to be easy to use, and focuses on providing a simple environment in which
web site updates can be made. There's no technical knowledge required to use Carbon, and we will provide training to
help users get started.
Full details on the functionality available can be viewed in our
Carbon product file (PDF - 189KB) but the highlights include:
- editing suite with full text formatting and image upload, including the addition of styles to maintain consistency.
- ability to add new pages to a web site, based on a stored design template.
- spell checker and preview facility prior to web page publication to the 'live' site.
- additional modules available to work specifically with News Pages and Event Diaries, to make updating of these web site elements even easier.
Pricing for Carbon starts from £395 for set up and annual licence - however for new web site projects requiring Carbon, the first year's costs may be waived.
