VU Ltd - Sports Hospitality and Event Management Victor Ubogu's blog tops 20,000 visitors
21st October 2007

Every cloud has a silver lining, apparently, and out of the gloom that's settled over the nation from England's defeat last Saturday comes light for Victor Ubogu. Thousands of rugby fans have been drawn to his site, where both Victor himself and England’s stalwart hooker, Mark Regan, have been blogging their candid views on the Rugby World Cup throughout the tournament.

From the original crushing defeat against the Springboks, through a series of mediocre matches, the impressive wins against Australia and France, and the Titan rematch with South Africa, a growing number of spectators have been drawn to the blog. Crucial to its popularity are Mark Regan’s regular entries, a man known for his blistering outbursts both on and off the pitch. Many fans jaded by mainstream sports reporting find a personal version of events from the player’s perspective refreshing, which explains much of the VU blog’s appeal.

Blogs seem to create a Marmite effect on anyone we speak to – you either love ‘em or hate ‘em – but their appeal cannot be denied, nor their obvious marketing potential ignored if, like Victor Ubogu, you manage to get them right.
