  • Who we are

     Meet the team

Some of the people you might bump into at Focus New Media, some have grown up a little since these photos were taken. Others, we're not too sure about.

  • Photo of a young Simon Newing Simon Newing, Managing Director
Simon was FNM's first employee, joining in 1996. After five years of web based adventures in other places, Simon rejoined Focus in 2004 and brought his BBC Micro (pictured) with him.
Away from the PC, Simon spends most of his time hoping Watford will win a football match.

Photo of a young Lisa Ballam Lisa Ballam, Account Director
Lisa joined FNM in June 2005 following three years as the Client Liaison Manager for international publishing house GDS. She graduated from Southampton University in 2002 with an honours degree in Corporate Communications.
Lisa currently spends most evenings studying towards an Association of Project Managers recognised degree - helped by the occasional bottle of fine wine.

Photo of a young Neil Smith Neil Smith, Technical Director
Neil has spent many years knee deep in the development of large scale web applications - including a stint as IT Director for a divison of Kodak - helping launch an entire new range of web based services to the public and Kodak suppliers. Neil also plays guitar, piano, drums, bass guitar, the harmonica, keyboard and sings. And he's not bad on the Wii as well......

Photo of a young Chris Lugg Chris Lugg, Technical
Chris left UWE with an honours degree in Real Time Systems, and now has over seven years experience developing web applications - completing projects for Audi, Somerfield and Park Resorts amongst others. Outside of work, Chris likes to be surrounded by noise - not only is he a father of two but he plays bass in a metal band.

Photo of a young Paul Springett Paul Springett, Technical
Before joining us Paul studied Computer Science at Cardiff Uni by day, and used his Jedi coding skills to build funky web apps by night. Luring him into the fold on the promise of quality coffee and free reign over the Spotify playlist, Paul repays us daily with updates on the latest web trends. When not at work, Paul likes to go extreme camping and frequent various Bristolian music venues.

Photo of a young Simon Mosse Simon Mosse, Design
After graduating with a degree in Fine Arts, Simon spent several years producing web sites for organisations within the third sector before arriving at Focus on his bike (see left). When not drawing, Simon snowboards, cooks and plays the harmonica - sometimes all at once. And he's also a leading surrogate father to guinea pigs throughout the land.

Photo of a young Amy Wilson Amy Wilson, Account Manager
Amy joined Focus from a varied background of office management, teaching English in Spain and feeding animals at Bristol Zoo. Now, Amy is deeply involved in all things digital marketing.
When not cycling through muddy woodland or dancing badly, Amy enjoys a nice piece of cake.

Photo of a young Mr G Mr G, Technical
Our secret weapon against Rails, Ruby, PHP, MySQL and all things technical - the identity of Mr G (think of him as our 'Stig') can never be revealed. But take our word that any project, no matter how complex, will be safe in his hands.
If we told you who he was, we'd all be in big trouble.....

Photo of a young Mike Newing Mike Newing, Director And Founder
Mike was one of the co-founders of Focus and still pops in occasionally to make sure we're all behaving ourselves. Mike spends most of his time these days in South Devon - either in his cottage or at one of the many boat yards in the area looking for that 'next purchase'.
