Sustrans commissioned Focus New Media to design and build a new web site to support Connect2, a new project made up of 79 schemes throughout the UK aiming to improve local travel by creating new walking and cycling routes.

in December 2007, Connect2 was one of four projects put forward to compete for £50 million from The Big Lottery Fund, to be decided by public vote on ITV1.
the web site provides a central resource for Connect2 and the various projects within it:
- each of the schemes are featured on an interactive animated map, showing their relative location and allowing users to find their local project.
- individual, content managed project pages allow the latest information and updates on each scheme to be published.
- registered web site visitors can contribute their comments and opinions on the forum, including holding private discussions with other users.
- a photo gallery allows individual albums for each project to be created and images uploaded into them by registered users.
- all the features combine to ensure that Connect2 achieves one of it's key aims - providing a community under which all the individual projects can come together.
Connect2 went on to win the £50 million pledge, collecting 42% of the vote! We look forward to seeing the projects come to life in the next few years.
